Earlier this year I felt a little light-headed and had some difficulty focusing. It was not serious, but it did affect my productivity.
I recently completed my annual physical examination with my doctor. I had implemented the suggestions he made during my physical examination last year. He reviewed my blood tests and suggested that I dramatically reduce refined carbs. He did give me a general idea of what refined carbs are, but I was still not sure.
I went to my computer and used Google to do some research. After reading several websites, I learned what refined carbs are.
The main dietary sources of refined carbs are white flour, white bread, white rice, pastries, sodas, snacks, pasta, sweets, breakfast cereals, and added sugars. It seems that most process foods have refined carbs. After reviewing the websites, I concluded that Refined carbs include mostly sugars and processed grains.
It was not difficult to remove white bread, breakfast cereals, and sodas from my daily diet. Removing sugar, snacks, pasta, and sweets were much more difficult. I immediately stopped eating pasta and worked to cut back on sugar. However, it was the snacks that became a challenge. I could replace snacks with fruits. That was a major challenge. I realized that I wanted snacks when I was bored.
I always planed days the previous day. That is a good idea, but I found that if I included more detail in the plan I was less likely to get bored. Adding detail to the daily plan helped reduce my boredom dramatically. Not only did I reduce the number of snacks I ate, but I was also accomplished much more per day.
Then I started tracking the completed tasks. I set a goal to complete at least 80% of my planned goals every day. Then I tracked the tasks weekly and monthly. The amount of time I was bored dropped substantially.
After three months I felt much better. I was able to concentrate all day. I still take one envelope of Vasayo Energy per day. My energy levels have been terrific. I still eat pasta when going out for dinner and I will eat desserts on special occasions. Learning about refined carbs and creating a plan to reduce my intake of them has made a positive effect on my overall health.
