Bible Verse

“But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you that you may be children of your father in Heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous” Matthew 5: 45 & 46

Christian Bible Lesson Overview

This is a challenging Christian Lesson to follow.  It is hard to understand loving someone who treats you with disrespect.  If we are true children of God, we want everyone to be saved.  When someone treats you poorly or causes you harm, the first instinct may be to strike back.  It takes discipline to behave based on Christian values instead of internal feelings.  If you respond negatively to a person who hurt you, there is no improvement in your life.  You still have an enemy and your life has not improved.

If you treat your enemy with respect and kindness, that person may change their attitude toward you.  Even if that person continues to be negative, you have clearly demonstrated your Christian values and you can free yourself of the negative feelings resulting from that experience.  Not only will you feel better about yourself, but you may demonstrate Christian Values to other people.  You will feel no stress and your overall health will improve.  Do not allow other people to divert you from your Christian Values.

Christian Bible Lesson for Today

This past Memorial Day I went shopping at a Home Depot Store.  My purpose was to return a five-gallon bucket of paint.  When showed the paint to the person at the paint counter, he told me that I could not return the paint even though I had a receipt because it was a custom color.  I said OK and started toward the exit of the store.  A store clerk asked me to stop and then asked if I had a receipt for the paint.  I said yes and showed him the receipt.  The clerk looked at the receipt and said the receipt was for the day before, so he thought I was trying to take an additional bucket of paint.  I told him that he was wrong, and we could go to the paint counter and verify I brought the paint from home.  He was accusing me of stealing the paint which made me upset at first.

I immediately realized I needed to calm down and seek the best solution for everyone.  I suggested we talk with a manager and verify with the clerks at the paint counter.  I also let the clerk know I understood why he thought I stole the pain.  When the manager arrived, he looked at the bucket of paint and stated that the sticker on the bucket has a date of yesterday.  I said thank you and started to leave the store.  The manager stopped me and said that he noticed I was wearing a Marine Corps hat.  Then the manager told me he is going to process the return of the paint because I severed my country, and it is Memorial Day.

I felt wonderful and it started by not reacting negatively to the clerk.  All situations will not end as we like but following the Christian, Lessons will make your life better.
