I completed the Daniel Fast yesterday.  I was amazed that I could stick to the Fast for twenty-one days.  There were times that I did wish to eat or wanted to eat things that were not allowed on the Fast.  However, most of the time if I felt I wanted to leave the Fast, I prayed regardless of where I was.  I believe it worked because I did follow the Fast exactly as planned. My wife, Charity, was a big help.  She prepared both my fruit for breakfast and the vegetables for lunch.

Results From Daniel Fast

I did lose thirty-three pounds, and my right leg has felt no pain during the entire twenty-one days.  My attention span has been much better and I am not completing significantly more tasks each day.  I feel closer to God.  I am amazed by the success.  I believe I know myself, my life plan, and my body much better than I ever have.

Appointment With The Doctor

Doctor’s Appointment

My doctor reviewed my X-rays with me.  The X-ray showed that my leg still has a few bone fragments, but there was a significant improvement.  Now it has been almost five months since the fracture of my right leg.  From the time of the fracture until the day I started the Daniel Fast, there was little or no improvement.  After I started the Daniel Fast, the pain was completely gone.  Before the Daniel Fast, I was not able to put on my shoes and socks without a major effort.  After one week of the Fast, I could bend my knees easily.  The doctor said the Fast was not a reason for the improvement.  He may be right; the reason may not be the Fast itself; it may be my commitment to God.

Losing the thirty-three pounds is not the primary benefit of the Daniel Fast.  Sometimes we are in desperate need of help.  During those times, it is important to embrace the answers we receive when we ask for help. I had many challenges, including my right leg, finances, attention span, weight gain from not running, feeling bad about myself, and overall stress from all of these challenges.  I prayed for help. When I received the answer, I did not understand it at first.  However, I researched all the Fasts in the Bible and tried to understand their purpose.  After my research, I realized that the Daniel Fast was the solution for me.  It was for twenty-one days which was a long time for a Fast, but not too long. The Fast did allow me to consume enough to work and complete my daily tasks.  Then I realized the real purpose is that I made a major commitment to God that took a major effort from me.  When I entered the commitment, I was worried that I would not be able to last the Twenty-one days, but then I realized that God would not have given me this answer if I could not meet the commitment.  This commitment is one of the few times that completely trusted God. My life is changed and I accomplish much more with the time I have left.
